Welcome Friends of Xavier Thornguild.

Who is Xavier

Hello my friends,

I am Xavier Thornguild. I am a figment of the imagination of Madison Trojanowski (pictured left). I was "born" in 1983 in a dream.

I am 3'-6" tall with a well rounded body. I travel with my best friend, a 4' tall Unicorn named Sacardin. I love a fair maiden by the name of Katelyn, the most intoxicating woman I have ever met in my short 400 years.

In this magical place shall be stories of my many travels. My adventures are many and exciting. I am always interested in the adventures of my fellow travelers.

About Madison..........
I am a 29 years old. I am half owner in an air tool business just north of Houston Texas. My partner and I got tired of working to make someone else money so we decided to do it for ourselves. I spend a lot of time on the net and have gained some of the best friends I have ever known. I write about Xavier whenever I get time. I had a dream one night about a small wizard and his adventures. About a month later I had an assignment in my english class to write a short story. So one thing led to another and Xavier was "born". I have written about him ever since. I will be replacing the next section with a story called "The Darkness" as soon as it is finished. I am in the final chapter now. Please visit again soon.

The Darkness
1

It was pitch. Total darkness. No light, no sound, just blackness.

Like a beacon in the fog, a tiny pinprick of light flooded in. It was dim but blinking in the pitch darkness.

As Xavier moved to the light, it moved away faster. Getting dimmer and dimmer until it was all but gone.

Something brushed his face and Xavier sat bolt upright in his blankets, dripping with sweat on the cold winter night. Sacardin moved closer to his side and patted his hoof softly on the ground. He had seen Xaviers dream and knew what the old wizard feared.

It was a long and restless night for Xavier. Constant nightmares with cold sweats. He would face his demons in the waking world or they would find him in the sleeping world.

The nightmares had gone on for a week without end. Xavier grew tired and weary, not able to concentrate or even think. Sacardin feared what his friend was becoming. The anger grew each day and destroyed a part of Xavier as it grew. His love and compassion were slipping away. Anger and vengeance grew in its place.

As the twin suns rose over the far away mountains, Xavier arose to greet the day with a new fever and hunger to KILL! He moved through the clearing, making more noise than he had in his entire 400 years of life. This would be a dark day in the forest.

The water boiled as Xavier approached the stream. The fish instantly dying as they were cooked alive. Pulling two fish from the water Xavier bit hard into the meat and threw away the bones and fins. Dozens of half eaten fish floated down stream. The water coated red in their blood.

Sacardin knew if he did not turn Xaviers mind to pure logical thought that his friend would be lost forever. He had tried all that he knew. Using the magic in his horn to talk the spoken and the non-spoken languages of the wizard. He had pulled them into the forests of Xaviers childhood. To the memories of his family and friends. But these memories only reminded him of his loneliness and his anger at the world, which had taken them away.
These giant trees were once his home. These streams once his bath and food supply. The animals his friends. The family he lost, his reason to go on. All meant nothing to him now for all was lost.

Each spell he cast now was incomplete. Never right or in control. Once the greatest wizard in the realms.

Xavier was dying.

Another beautiful morning! Katelyn had risen to a wonderful day. Her heart was free and her mind clear. For a few minutes. Then the realization that what she needed, what she wanted, was gone.

Xavier had left weeks before, ranting and raving about some awful dream, which was destroying his mind. She had begged him to stay, wishing to help guide him in this dark time. He needed her, as much or more than she needed him. His anger and rage had scared her and she saw in his eyes a darkness, a void with no light, which she had never seen before, and did not want to see again.

His spells had shaken the very foundation of the castle in his rage. Power welling up uncontrolled from his deepest darkest memories. Katelyn had been the only one willing to stay with the MADMAN and his unicorn. Sacardin had warned Katelyn of the darkness in Xaviers soul and what it could do to him and his loved ones. She did not care. She had loved him as friend, as companion and as lover for most of her life. To give her own life to save Xaviers immortal soul would be a tiny price to pay.

The horses were ready as the sun passed mid day. She would seek out Xavier and bring him home, where he belonged.

3

It was hot wherever Xavier walked. For twenty feet in any direction around the wizard, anything living died. Instantly burned to ashes. Trees would instantly shrivel and burst into flames as Xavier passed. His path of destruction was growing with each passing hour.

Sacardin followed behind Xavier using his own magic to put out the fires and try to save what he could. If he could only save enough energy to transport them to a realm far away and more desolate than the rich growth of the Luthian Forest.

Xavier stopped suddenly as he approached a narrow bridge. The heat subsided around him as he slowly moved onto the old bridge. A slow cal stream in a gravel bed drifted past the bridge. Leaves and flower pedals floated in the water. An echo deep in Xavier's mind whispered I have and always will love you Xavier Thornguild. It was a familiar voice, a tender voice. Passing over the bridge Xavier remembered the day they had met and walked this lonely path with flowers in bloom and the animals scampering around. Her tinder touch, a gentle kiss on the cheek. The sweet smell of. Suddenly the beautiful images of the past burst into flames in Xaviers mind and he once again was lost in the fury.

4

Katelyn had traveled hard for six days. Stopping only to sleep and rest the horses. Xaviers Path was easy to find in the Luthian Forest. Or what was left of it. She knew he could not be far ahead by the freshly burned foliage, still smoldering at her feet.

She knew mot what she could do but she must find Xavier and show him the love that he has in himself to save him from himself. Her love was strong and she knew that their love could conquer all. This once beautiful path, now burned twenty foot wide, had been where they had met so many years ago. Not far ahead was the bridge where they sat and talked. The stream below where she had seen his tender side. His childlike qualities that she loved so much. Skipping rocks and dancing around in the gravel.

As she approached the place were she knew the bridge was she slowed her mount. Stopping a few turns from the bridge. She could not bear to see such a wonderful place destroyed by the one she loved. A rider moves ahead to check for danger.

The rider returns at a full gallop. Katelyn fearing the worst steadies herself for the bad news.

Come my lady, A miracle ahead for you to see stated the young rider.

Katelyn slowly spurs her horse ahead. Walking the magnificent beast around the bends. The destruction is terrifying and seemingly never-ending until she makes the last turn. In the distance at the next turn, there is green foliage and flowers. She spurs her horse on to a full gallop. She rounds the corner to see the bridge where she had vowed her love to Xavier, complete and unharmed.

She brought her mount to a halt on the edge of the bridge and dismounted. She walked across the bridge as they had that day many years ago. Taking the path down to the creek bed where they had kissed and held hands. Everything was as it should be except Xavier was not here. She had held him in her arms and told him of her love for him. He had done the same. A sacred haven for there love to remain.

There was still love in Xaviers heart and this proved that he was not lost and alone but merely too far away to see where he belonged.

A flash of red caught her eye in the water of the stream. Moving closer Katelyn found a small red stone lying in the bottom of the stream. She knew this stone. It was the Dragons Heart. A part of the pendant Xavier had forged centuries ago and would never part from. He had vowed his love on the Dragon Heart the most beautiful stone in all the realms. Its destruction could only be caused by Xaviers death.

There was a small crack forming right through the center of the Dragon Heart

Katelyn ran up the bank and leaped onto her mount. Purring him to a full gallop, she knew she had little time left to save her love. Passing the green and vibrant beauty of the stream and returning to the scorched path just a short distance away.

5

His anger had grown more fearsome and the destruction stronger. Anything Xavier touched vanished in a puff of smoke. Sacardin was weary and failing to put out all of the fires as he tried to keep up with Xavier. The wizard was getting thinner and fragile looking, but his powers were growing. Draining the very life from his soul.

Sacardin too had become frail. Draining himself to save his friend. Sacardin had not eaten for eight days, and neither had the wizard. Sacardin stumbled and fell. His chest slammed into the rough ground. Hooves split and bleeding. The darkness came and washed over him.

Katelyn drew her horse up, stopping next to the fallen unicorn. He was breathing but very shallow and weak. She ordered her riders to stay with the animal and give it small amounts of water until it awoke or help arrived. She climbed back on her mount and galloped away.

The crack in the Dragon Heart was half way through.

6

The darkness was consuming him and he knew it. He had nothing to hold onto. The only things he could feel were rage and hatred.

There was a town ahead. A town Xavier had known. A town he had visited and people with whom, he had shared stories and food. A town he knew he would destroy! People, places, things. All would be destroyed for the good of his rage.

As he approached the town, the people came out to see the fires raging and chasing this poor frail man from the forest. The townspeople take-up arms to defend the helpless old man from whatever enemy pursues him.

A moment of recognition. Xavier knew a small boy in this town. He had taught the boy to ignite a flame from a stone with a simple spell. But that was 100 years ago.

Molten rock burst up through the ground around Xavier and carried the stone he stood upon closer to the town.

An arrow grazed Xavier's right shoulder from behind. Who would dare to attack him in his greatest hour?

Katelyn had judged her aim perfectly on the moving wizard. She had meant to get his attention and stop his advance on the town. It had worked. But now what?

Lowering her magic bow to her side, Katelyn dismounted and walked toward Xavier. The fury in him subsided and his memories of the only woman he had ever loved came rushing back. She was his reason for living. The molten rock cooled and the fires burned low around Xavier as Katelyn approached. There was a sense of wholeness in her eyes. A world full and complete

A world he would destroy. The ground shook and fire flared up all around them. Katelyn was unharmed, though surrounded by flame and molten stone. The heat was unbearable. She felt as though she would die from the heat. Her hair began to singe. Would Xavier really kill her, the one that he loved?

7

A huge bolder thrust up under Katelyn, shoving her into Xavier. As she reached for him she knew that he would kill her. She grabbed at his tunic as the world swirled around her. Clasping his dagger as she fell, she pulled it from its magical sheath. Expanding to its full three foot length in her hands, the sword began to ring with the vibrations it emitted when it magic was fighting to take control. Bound to Katelyn by her grip on the handle. A magic sword in the hands of a mortal was not a good idea.

That sound. Xavier knew it. The haze faded for just a second and then rushed back full force into his head. The sword was no longer his. His power to control the magic was gone and the sword knew it. He was evil now and he must be destroyed. Katelyn was pulled to the right and then the left as she climbed back up to her feet. The sword guiding her every move.

A voice rang in her head. Hypnotic and controlling. She could not refuse the sword. It used her to do as it willed. Moving across the moving stones with the prowess of a great cat, the sword guided Katelyn closer and closer to Xavier.

Face to face with the man that she loved with all her heart, holding a sword that would kill him, she was torn between what she knew she had to do and what she needed in her heart.

Furry at the irritation of this mere woman standing in his way, and with his sword in her hands. He knew that she could not control the sword, that she would no longer be a problem in his way. The fury grew deep in Xavier and his hands rose above his head, sparks jumping from hand to hand. The ground rumbled and buckled again as the bolt of lightning surged from his hands and struck out for Katelyn.

The sword pulled her aside and twisted to deflect the bolt harmlessly away into the ground. Tossing her through the air and back onto her feet just outside the circle of boiling ground. Her back ached and her arms felt as though they had been jerked out of their sockets. The sight of Xaviers face covered with rage and hate, scared Katelyn. Stark fear took over her mind and blocked the magic of the sword from controlling her body. She dropped the sword.

Seeing his chance, Xavier thrust forward, hands outstretched to strangle this obnoxious wench who dared to get in his way. Wrapping his fingers around her neck, and starting to squeeze the life out of her, a memory deep inside began to climb the infinite void of Xaviers mind. Looking into the beautiful green eyes in this terrified face, the memory of his love burst into Xaviers conscience.

He loved her, but he had to kill her. WHY! She was his only love. His true love. He would give his life for her, so why was he killing her. His grip loosened, and his fear grew. Just as he was letting go, the rage took over again and he burst into a furry, grabbing at her neck and choking her once more.

Please Xavier. She gasped through tears and strangled breath. Her eyes begging him to release her. Again there was a moment of recognition and a second of doubt. Grabbing at his clothes and hands as she fought to free herself from his grip, she caught his pouch and reached inside for any weapon she could use.

The light in his eyes stirred Xavier from the deep sleep. The throbbing in his head telling him that something was wrong. Had is all been a dream? He could never hurt Katelyn. She was his true love.

She had not know what the powder was when she pulled it from the pouch. She had dumped it on Xaviers head in hopes of stopping him.

It almost killed him. She had dumped a full jar of sleeping powder on his head and on his face causing him to breath in the powder and instantly rendering him unconscious. The fever and spasms over the past ten days had rocked him hard and caused him many injuries.

Sacardin had recovered with the help of his sister and the magical leaves of the Luthian Forests plants. It had taken Xavier much longer to recover. The magic needed to heal him was not available and the fear of the fury returning haunted Katelyn every day.

She had been at his side, talking and caressing him, every moment of each day. Never leaving his side. She would be there when he awoke or he died whichever fate would befall him.

Three days of quiet slumber. No movement. Just the shallow breathing of the tiny wizard. He was thin and pale. He needed food and drink, but he needed to awaken to take this nourishment. Sacardin had done all that he could to sustain the wizard, but he could not force the man to live.

His eyes gently opened, to the bright and blinding light. She was there, soft, gentle, and beautiful. Her head resting on his bed. Her hand holding his. She had fallen asleep by his side.

His hand trembling, he reached to caress her hair. My gentle Darlin, you wait by my side to give love that I do not deserve.

Katelyn awoke with a start at the sound of his voice and the trembling touch of his tiny fingers. She cried rivers of tears as she held his hand and starred once more into the eyes so dark and so caring that she had fallen in love with so many years ago.

Weeks of nurturing and rest saw Xavier recover quickly and regain control of his magic once more.

Once again the greatest wizard in the realms was walking the creek bed with his true love.
